Want to see where Siam's kings once ruled? This guided day tour takes you from Bangkok to Ayutthaya, the capital during the kingdom's golden age, to explore four of its most remarkable temple ruins. You travel in an air-conditioned vehicle, or you can join the tour at the first stop in Ayutthaya, Wat Lokayasutha, known for its giant reclining Buddha. From there you continue to Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, part of the old royal palace complex, then Wat Mahathat, where you see the famous Buddha head wrapped in the roots of a Bodhi tree. You finish at the riverside Wat Chaiwattanaram, whose architecture was influenced by Angkor Wat in Cambodia.
