Planning your Bangkok tour

Not sure what to book? Here is a short guide to our Bangkok tours, from canal trips by longtail boat and street food by tuk-tuk to day trips out to the floating market, Ayutthaya and the River Kwai, with real prices and the best time of day to go.

Which Bangkok tour is right for you?

If it is your first visit, start on the water: a longtail boat through the Thonburi canals shows you the Bangkok most visitors never see, from ฿695 for two hours. Food lovers should look at the Michelin Guide street food tour by tuk-tuk through Chinatown at night. If you like to keep moving, Co van Kessel have run their famous bicycle and boat tours through the back streets since 1984. And for the big sights outside the city, pick a day trip to Damnoen Saduak floating market, Ayutthaya or the River Kwai.

The Damnoen Saduak and Maeklong Railway Market day trip is our best seller: you see vendors paddle the canals and fold their stalls off the train tracks in one morning, from ฿995. The Ayutthaya day tour visits the UNESCO temple ruins of the old capital with lunch included. In the city, the two-hour canal tour by longtail boat and the Chinatown street food tours by tuk-tuk or on foot are the favourites, and the River Kwai day trip covers the bridge and the Death Railway with time to swim at the waterfall.

Bangkok tour prices and what is included

City tours start from ฿695 per adult for the two-hour canal boat trip or the Chinatown walking tour, bicycle tours run from ฿1,195 to ฿3,895, and full day trips out of Bangkok cost ฿995 to ฿2,795 including transport, an English-speaking guide and, on most of them, lunch. That is often half of what the same day out costs on the big international booking sites, because you are booking at local rates. Every tour page shows the live price and exactly what is included, or you can browse all Bangkok tours in one list.

The best time to visit Bangkok for tours

November to February is the cool season and the most comfortable time, with dry days around 30 degrees. March to May is hot, and the green season runs from about June to October, when showers usually come late in the day and tours keep running. Bangkok is a year-round city: day trips leave early to beat the heat and the traffic, and the night bicycle tour with street food dinner is a great choice in the hotter months.

How booking, pickup and payment work

Booking online takes a minute and you get instant confirmation. Day trips out of Bangkok include hotel pickup in the central areas, and the city tours by boat, bicycle and on foot meet at a central point that is easy to reach by BTS, MRT or taxi, shown on the tour page and in your confirmation. You do not have to pay in full in advance, as you can pay on the day. If you are not sure what fits your plans, message us on WhatsApp or live chat and a real person will help you choose.

Bangkok tours FAQ

Short city tours start from ฿695 per adult, most half-day tours are ฿1,195 to ฿2,595, and full day trips including transport, guide and lunch run ฿995 to ฿2,795. Prices are in Thai baht at local rates, and each tour page shows the exact price and what is included.

Day trips to Damnoen Saduak, Ayutthaya, the River Kwai and Kanchanaburi include hotel pickup in central Bangkok. City tours by longtail boat, bicycle, tuk-tuk and on foot meet at a central starting point instead, which is shown on the tour page and in your booking confirmation.

Yes. You book online and get instant confirmation, and on most tours you can pay the balance on the day. You can see the payment options for each tour before you confirm.

Yes, if you go early. It is touristy by late morning, so our day trip leaves Bangkok early and combines it with the Maeklong Railway Market, where vendors pull their stalls back from the tracks as the train comes through. You see both in one morning from ฿995.

You can visit on your own, but a guide turns a hot walk between buildings into the story of Siam, and handles tickets, dress code and the route for you. Our full-day temples and canal tour combines the highlights with a longtail boat trip and lunch.

November to February is the cool, dry season and the most comfortable. Tours run all year though: in the hotter months the day trips leave early and the night tours by tuk-tuk or bicycle are at their best.

Cover your shoulders and knees: a t-shirt with light trousers or a long skirt works well, and shoes you can slip off easily. This applies to everyone at the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun, and your guide will remind you before you go in.

Yes. The canal boat, tuk-tuk and floating market tours work well with kids, and child prices are shown on each tour page. The elephant sanctuary day trip to Kanchanaburi is also a family favourite. For the bicycle tours, children need to be comfortable riding in city traffic, so check the tour page notes or ask us first.
