Tea, coffee and water being included was useful. The band mixed international songs with familiar Thai favourites. Staff cleared plates efficiently and remained friendly. We booked for our final night in Bangkok. Salmon, river prawns and Thai dishes gave everyone something to try.

The sights were memorable, while our indoor table felt a little far from the windows. The boat passed Rama VIII Bridge before turning back through the city lights. A lovely night overall, with a short wait during check-in at ICONSIAM. A short shower passed before departure. ICONSIAM was convenient for shopping before check-in. The cruise worked well for couples and families alike. I hope the operating team improves these details.

We enjoyed walking around the table-free front deck for photographs. The upper deck offered space to stroll without interrupting diners. Wat Arun looked spectacular from the open deck.

The boat felt polished and suited a special occasion. Salmon, river prawns and Thai dishes gave everyone something to try. Our window-side table gave us a good view between courses.

ICONSIAM is on the Thonburi bank at Charoen Nakhon Road. The BTS Gold Line stops at Charoen Nakhon station inside the mall, and there are free shuttle boats from Sathorn pier below BTS Saphan Taksin; the boarding pier is on the river side of the building. Arrive at the pier (Pier 2) in front of Icon Siam at least 30 minutes prior to departure.

The Opulence is one of the largest dinner boats on the Chao Phraya, a roughly 70 metre vessel with room for around 700 guests across its three decks, and every table is reserved in advance so the scale never turns into a scramble for seats. The two lower decks are air-conditioned with panoramic windows; the rooftop is open air with seating arranged around the edge for the full 360 degree view. The buffet runs to more than 30 dishes: fresh sashimi and sushi, grilled river prawns and mussels, a carving station, Thai classics such as green curry, tom yum and mango sticky rice, Italian pasta and lasagne, a salad bar, and a dessert and fruit spread, with vegetarian dishes clearly labelled. Bars on board serve soft drinks, beer, wine and cocktails, and the singers move between English, Japanese and Korean favourites as the evening goes on.
